Project Overview
This project was a custom sports retail kiosk delivered at Westfield London, one of the most strictly managed shopping malls in the UK. The client planned to open the kiosk during the Christmas sales season, which left a very limited timeline.
The challenge was not only speed, but also compliance. The kiosk had to meet UK mall engineering standards, fire safety rules, and installation approval requirements. Any delay would mean missing the most important sales period of the year.
M2 Display worked closely with the client from start to finish, taking responsibility at every stage and solving problems as they appeared.
Stage 1: Mall Approval & Compliance
Issue 1: Fire-Rated Material Certification
Challenge:
Westfield required all kiosk materials, including fabric and acrylic, to have international fire-retardant certification. Some approved materials were difficult to source quickly in China.

M2 proposed alternative certified materials with the same safety level, explained the options clearly to the client, and submitted full test reports to the mall.
Result:
All materials were approved without affecting the schedule.
Issue 2: Repeated Drawing Revisions
Challenge:
Mall engineers reviewed every construction detail. Small issues such as base angles and edge finishes caused drawings to be rejected multiple times. The drawings were revised 8 times within two weeks.

The M2 design and engineering team carefully studied each comment, revised the drawings line by line, and maintained fast communication with the mall.
Result:
The kiosk drawings passed full technical approval.
Issue 3: Installation Team Pre-Approval
Challenge:
Westfield required strict background checks and documentation for the local installation team, which was unfamiliar to the client.

M2 assisted in preparing, organizing, and submitting all required documents and coordinated directly with the mall.
Result:
The installation team was approved on time.
Stage 2: Production & Quality Control
Issue: Assembly Errors Under Tight Schedule
Challenge:
During final assembly, quality inspection found several issues:
- Missing locks on the reception counter
- Logo panel installed in the wrong direction
- Incorrect bolts used on load-bearing structures (M6 instead of M10)
Cause:
Some details were missed during secondary drawing revisions, and the factory followed standard assembly habits under extreme time pressure.
M2 Solution:
M2 immediately activated an emergency plan. The factory reworked all errors overnight, strictly following the approved drawings.
Result:
All components met design and safety standards before shipment.
Stage 3: International Shipping & Customs Clearance
Issue 1: Freight Forwarder Could Not Continue
Challenge:
New export inspection policies in China caused the client’s original freight forwarder to stop handling the shipment. Only one week remained before opening.

M2 took over the entire logistics and customs process immediately.
Issue 2: No Available Flights
Challenge:
The cargo was oversized and overweight. Guangzhou and Hong Kong airports rejected it. Christmas flights were fully booked.
M2 Solution:
M2 contacted multiple airports nationwide and secured a flight from Chengdu Airport. The cargo was transported by truck from Guangdong to Chengdu.
Result:
Two critical days were saved, avoiding major delays and cost increases.
Issue 3: Airport Delays & Customs Dispute
Challenges:
- Additional notarized packing photos were required by the airport
- Flight delay due to air traffic control
- Customs questioned the declared value, which included installation and air freight costs

M2 prepared all required documents, provided clear cost breakdowns, and communicated professionally with customs.
Result:
The shipment cleared customs successfully.
Final Installation:
The cargo arrived in London on the 11th and cleared customs on the 12th. However, local logistics stopped on the weekend.
Critical Action:
M2 coordinated to move the cargo out of the airport on the same day, securing access to the mall and completing installation on the night of the 14th.
Result:
The sports kiosk opened on time for the Christmas season.
